Donate your vehicle — benefits CASA
If you have a car, truck, SUV, motor home, motorcycle, snowmobile, jet ski, or boat that you would like to donate rather than sell or trade in, you can donate your vehicle to CASA of Mariposa County hassle-free and receive a tax deduction. CASA has an agreement with the Center for Car Donations, a reputable and reliable organization that assists charities with fundraising efforts. Here is how it works:
- You call the Center for Car Donations at (877) 411‑3662.
- Let them know that you want the proceeds from your vehicle to go to CASA of Mariposa County, California.
- The Center for Car Donations will pick up your vehicle (same-day pick-up available in some areas) and handle all paperwork at absolutely no cost to you.
- Your vehicle will be sold and CASA will receive 75% of the sale price after towing, auction, DMV, and transportation fees are deducted.
- The Center for Car Donations will send you a receipt for your charitable donation and any forms required by the IRS.
Be a sponsor. Sponsorships make an incredible impact on the children CASA serves, and help ensure that funds are available to train and support advocates so that each and every child in Mariposa County who needs an advocate has one. If you or your business would like to become a sponsor, call (209) 742‑4206.
Leave a legacy. The Mariposa Community Foundation partners with us in serving those interested in planned or estate gifts, including gifts of securities, real estate, or other personal property.

Volunteer
Volunteers bring needed skills and extra support that isn't always available due to limited funds and staff availability.
Mountain Crisis Services
Crisis hotline volunteers are currently needed — MCS holds the only 24/7 crisis hotline for domestic violence and sexual assault victims in Mariposa County. Volunteers pick their own time slots each month and answer emergency calls by phone.
You can help as a direct service volunteer (client counseling, legal advocacy, court accompaniment, crisis line coverage, shelter assistance — after the state-certified 80-hour training) or as a support volunteer (outreach, fundraising, donations, supply runs, upkeep at the office and shelters).

Valley Crisis Center
Direct-service roles (crisis counselor, legal aide, shelter aide, support-group facilitator) require the state 40-hour Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault trainings; indirect roles (fundraising, outreach, social media) need shorter 101 trainings. Volunteers are 18 or older, pass a background check, and hear back within 72 hours of applying.

CASA of Mariposa County
A Volunteer Advocate is a consistent, caring adult for a child or youth involved in the court system. Advocates are 21 or older, complete a 30-hour training course, and spend a minimum of 10 hours per month during an assigned case — you do not have to be a lawyer or social worker. You can also join the Advisory Council, which plans CASA's outreach events.
Mariposa Heritage House
Mariposa Heritage House offers many ways to get involved and give back to our community. Volunteer opportunities may include drop-in center support, peer support, securing and/or organizing donations, helping with community events and sober activities, maintenance, and other general program needs.
Professional skills are welcome too — tax preparation, grant writing, fundraising, and other specialized help. A few hours occasionally or a regular schedule both make a difference.

Wish lists
Each program keeps a wish list of items that are always needed.
For the safe house (MCS)
It is MCS's goal to provide as many things as possible to the survivors staying in the safe house to make them feel comfortable and safe. Our needs are always changing, so if you have items you would like to donate, please call (209) 742‑5865. We have limited space to store donations, so if you have clothes to donate, you can also take them to Class A Consignments or Set Free Thrift Store in MCS's name.
Food: we welcome donations of perishable items like fresh meats, dairy products, and fruits & vegetables. To make a donation of perishable items, please call our business line (209) 742‑5865 ahead of time to arrange drop-off details.
