Frequently asked questions
Is it ADA?
Our Safe House is ADA accessible.
Do you allow pets?
Valley Crisis Center's Safe House allows pet dogs; however, their owner is responsible for their pet's needs.
Do you have a curfew?
Yes. Due to the nature of our program, we ask participants to return to the house by 10 PM. There are case-by-case situations where someone may stay out longer.
Do you offer childcare?
Valley Crisis Center's Safe House does not provide childcare.
Do I have to report my incident to the police to get shelter?
No. Reporting to the police is not a requirement of any of our services.
Do you shelter men?
Yes. Valley Crisis Center helps anyone if they tell us they are a victim of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking.
How long is the program?
Our Safe House program is up to 60 days, but not guaranteed. Advocates will conduct a 72-Hour safety evaluation to make sure our programs are safe for you and your children. If we determine it is not safe, we will make every effort to find a safer alternative.
Do I have to share a room?
Our safe house is set up for communal living. This means you have to share common spaces like the living room, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.
You may share a bedroom and bathroom with other residents of the shelter depending on how full our safe house program is.
Do you provide food?
Valley Crisis Center provides basic commodities.
Do I have to get other Valley Crisis Center services while in shelter?
No, all of our services are voluntary. If you do not want or need counseling, legal help, or advocacy, you do not need to get it.
Is the Safe House fully staffed?
Staff are on site during scheduled shifts, and a manager is on call at all times.
As a crisis response agency, there may be times staff are not in the house or they are unavailable. In situations like this, you can call us on our 24-Hour Crisis Hotline.
